This role is in Medtronic's corporate tax department focusing on the income tax accounting function (ASC 740). The primary role of this position will be to assist in the quarterly and annual provision analysis. This position also involves tax research, tax compliance, responding to tax audit inquiries, and collaborating with other tax and finance professionals throughout Medtronic. This position will report to a Tax Director within the Income Tax Accounting Group.

A Day in the Life
  • Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state and non-US quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Assist with updating quarterly and annual tax accounting procedures to ensure compliance with required SOX control objectives.
  • Assist with compiling information supporting the Company's SEC filings.
  • Work on special tax projects, with varying levels of involvement and responsibilities.
  • Develop systems and procedures that lead to process improvements.
    Must Have: Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance
    • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
    • Corporate income tax accounting experience required

    Nice to Have:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Master's Degree (MST, MBT, MBA)
  • Advanced Excel skills including V-Lookup, H-Lookup and Data Manipulation
  • Strong PC Skills, including OneSource Tax software and financial accounting systems (SAP, Hyperion)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills related to finance and operating situations, along with the ability to perform detailed work
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization
  • Flexible - able to adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to grow into a management position

  • Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
