The Medtronic Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to prepare and review state corporate income tax filings. This position also involves assistance with tax provision calculations, tax research, assisting with income tax audits, and collaborating with other finance professionals throughout Medtronic.

A Day in the Life
  • Team with other tax professionals in the preparation of Medtronic's state and local income and franchise tax returns.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end ASC 740 process.
  • Prepare projections of state estimated income tax liabilities as required for quarterly state estimated income tax payments.
  • Research and respond to state income tax notices and requests from state and local taxing authorities.
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals to identify and resolve tax questions, including performing tax research and analysis as needed.
  • Work on special projects, with varying levels of involvement and responsibilities.
  • Assist with state income and franchise tax audit information requests.
    Must Have: Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance
    • 4+ years of U.S. Federal and /or State income tax compliance experience (minimum 2+ years State income tax compliance experience) with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or 2+ years of State income tax compliance experience with a Master's Degree
    • Public accounting and/or large corporate income tax experience
    • CorpTax or other tax compliance software experience

    Nice to Have:
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, Data Manipulation, Multiple Embedded Formulas)
  • Strong analytical skills related to finance and operating situations, along with the ability to perform detailed work
  • Good decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to grow by assuming an increased level of responsibility

  • Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
