Principal Tax Accountant

The Medtronic Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Principal Tax Accountant.  This position is a key contributor on the Tax Audit Team, responsible for managing the State Tax Audit process to present the company's position on technical tax matters before the State Taxing Authorities ("STA") for all ongoing State Tax Audits. This position also involves assistance with Federal Tax Audits and collaborating with other finance professionals throughout Medtronic including Tax Planning, Tax Accounting and Tax Reporting groups.   Impact patient outcomes. Come for a job, stay for a career.   A Day in the Life  o            Primary responsibility for drafting STA Information Document Requests ("IDR") for review and approval. o             Assist Director of Tax Audits in effectively strategizing difficult and complex issues and recommending appropriate options to resolve state tax audits and appeals in an efficient and effective manner. o             Assist Director of Tax audits in drafting Federal IDRs for review and approval as needed. o             Interact with other Tax Department personnel, business unit personnel and outside consultants to ensure all appropriate information and options have been considered in interacting with STA. o             Review STA workpapers for completeness and computational accuracy to insure all issues have been properly accounted for. o             Review STA Notices of Proposed Adjustments and recommend appropriate action to Senior Director and Director of Tax Audits. o             Provide support to the Audit team on special projects.   Must Have:   Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree required  o             7+ years of State tax experience, including at least 3 years in State Tax Compliance or Audit Process/Procedure in a Big 4 accounting firm, law firm, multinational corporate or State government setting with a Bachelor's Degree; or 5+ years of State tax experience, including at least 3 years in State Tax Compliance or Audit Process/Procedure in a Big 4 accounting firm, law firm multinational corporate or State government setting with an Advanced Degree o             Public accounting and/or large corporate income tax experience o             Federal and State tax compliance o             MS Excel and Word skills   Nice to Have:     o             CPA, Master of Taxation or JD preferred o             Certification such as CPA, Enrolled Agent, or attorney licensed by the Bar in at least one state o             Strong understanding and experience with state tax rules o             Ability to apply good judgment and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve critical tax risks o             Strong project management skills o             Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, Data Manipulation, Multiple Embedded Formulas) o             Strong analytical skills related to finance and operating situations, along with the ability to perform detailed work o             Strong oral and written communication skills o             Positive attitude and ability to adapt to change o             Ability to grow by assuming an increased level of responsibility o             Ability to work independently as well as part of a progressive, high -performing team o             Highest ethical standards 18000NI5

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
